Greensboro, NC — Moses Cone Memorial Hospital was without water for about two hours after a main was hit during construction.

Hospital officials say they lost water about 10:00 am.

“A big part of our day is washing our hands,” says Shannon Wright, a nurse on the immediate care unit. “We have patients who need water to take pills with.”

Patients with appointments were encouraged to still see their doctor.

The hospitalencouraged people to use alcohol gel for hand hygiene and to not flush toilets. They also worked to bring in portable restrooms and handwash stations.

Greensboro Fire Department’ aid was requested to supplying emergency water service.

“Our team quickly came together, and we identified what we need to do to maintain our patient’s safety, so that was our first focus,” says Debbie Grant, the VP of Patient Care and Nursing.
